AIO or Did I Cheat on My Boyfriend?
I (22F) have been dating my boyfriend (24M) for almost two years. Overall, our relationship has been good—some ups and downs, but nothing major. However, something happened recently, and now I can’t stop questioning myself.
A few weeks ago, I ran into an old friend from college. We used to be very close, but we never officially dated. We decided to grab coffee and catch up. At first, it felt completely innocent—just two people talking about life, work, and old memories.
But as the conversation went on, things started to feel… different.
He complimented me, told me I looked great, and said he always had feelings for me back then. I didn’t shut him down immediately. I laughed, blushed, and honestly enjoyed the attention more than I should have. We didn’t kiss, we didn’t hold hands, and nothing physical happened—but the emotional vibe felt wrong.
Later that night, I realized I hadn’t told my boyfriend about meeting him. That’s when the guilt hit me hard.
Now I keep asking myself:
-
Was that emotional cheating?
-
Did I cross a boundary just by enjoying the attention?
-
Or am I completely overreacting?
My boyfriend hasn’t noticed anything different, but I feel terrible. I love him, and I would never intentionally cheat. Still, part of me wonders if hiding this means I already did something wrong.
