AITAH for Ending a Relationship Over Long Showers?

But relationships don’t usually end because of one big dramatic moment. They end because of small things that keep piling up, quietly and consistently, until love feels more like frustration.

My partner used to take extremely long showers—sometimes 45 minutes to an hour, every single day. At the beginning, I laughed it off. Everyone has habits, right? But over time, it started affecting real things:

  • Water bills went up

  • Morning routines got disrupted

  • Plans got delayed

  • Conversations about it went nowhere

I tried talking calmly. I tried joking. I tried compromising. Nothing changed.

What hurt the most wasn’t the long showers themselves—it was the lack of consideration. My concerns were brushed off as “overreacting.” I started feeling unheard, unimportant, and dismissed over something that could have been fixed so easily.

People often say, “If you really loved them, you wouldn’t break up over something so small.”
But was it really small?
